Hey Reader,
This week, I want to talk about a topic that tends to bring up mixed feelings: network marketing.
Some people talk about negative experiences: pushy tactics, pressure to recruit, or endless messages from friends selling products they don’t want.
There are approaches in the industry that make people uncomfortable. I’ve seen a few of them, too. But I’ve also worked alongside people who are world-class professionals who lead with integrity.
I’ve always believed in sharing things that genuinely help people. And I believe there’s a way to talk about your work without turning your relationships into transactions.
How I got involved
I got into network marketing because the company had a product I needed. It worked for me and aligned with my values around natural health and longevity. I wasn’t necessarily looking for another business opportunity, but I’m not one to turn down a good one either.
When I started sharing it, the hardest part wasn't skepticism; it was how personal it felt when someone said no.
I wasn’t pushing a bottle of face cream; I was talking about something that boosted my energy and reduced discomfort. Their "no" felt like they were rejecting their own well-being, which was tough to handle.
What I didn't want
From the beginning, I knew what I didn’t want…
- I didn’t want to pressure friends and family
- spam my Instagram and Facebook feeds
- or use tactics that felt manipulative.
People follow me on Facebook for updates on what I’m doing, not to be sold. So I needed to go about it differently.
Why I paused
When we started traveling full-time, it became harder to talk to people consistently about the products, and I wasn’t in places where I could talk to people about the business side.
But something interesting happened…
- I continued earning every single week
- customers stayed on products long-term
- new customers continued to contact me
- and I never stopped using the product myself
That long-term retention meant that people are loyal to a product that works.
Now I'm back at it
Recently, I watched the company’s annual convention online. It clarified for me that the leadership, company mission, and direction still align with my values. It reminded me why I said yes in the first place.
So, I’m reengaging:
- without pressure or hype
- with a focus on wellness
- and with a genuine desire to help people live healthier, longer lives
I don’t have everything figured out, and I’m not pretending to.
What I do know is...
You can approach network marketing with integrity while focusing on products you truly believe in.
Why it matters
Many of you are still looking for new business opportunities. And not everyone wants to start a YouTube channel or launch a tech-heavy business. Some people just want to:
- share products that helped them
- earn income in a flexible way
- be part of a team instead of working alone
Network marketing can be that path…for the right person, in the right company, with the right approach.
It’s not a shortcut.
It’s not for everyone.
And it’s definitely not passive.
Yet it can be a fulfilling option if you want to make an impact without having to be in the spotlight.
What's your take?
Some of you have been in the industry for years, while others have avoided it because of old-school tactics. Both perspectives matter.
If you’ve been there and moved on, I’d love to know what you wish had been different. And if you’re curious about how to approach it in a way that feels aligned, I’m happy to share what’s worked for me.
Either way, you can just reply to this email.
